Woodrock Animal Rescue Adoption Procedure
ACTA NON VERBA – Action not Words
Woodrock believes that each animal deserves a loving, stable "forever home"; for this reason, the re-homing process is extensive.
All animals in our care are treated as our own animals and so the adoption process is strict to ensure that only the best possible home is found for our furry friends. All animals will be sterilized, inoculated, rabie vaccinated and dewormed prior to adoption, and a vaccination health record reflecting all relative historical information is handed over, upon delivery of our furry friend to its new owner.

WOODROCK ADOPTION PROCEDURE
Puppies that are adopted are only taken if assurances and follow-ups are made regarding sterilization once the puppy comes of age. This is strictly monitored as Woodrock aims at all costs to eliminate the increase in animal breeding when there are so many unwanted animals out there looking for a home.
Due to the nature of rescue, many times we are unable to ascertain the “house-trained” ability of the animals and so we stress that patience is emphasized over the transition phase. Woodrock also has some great tips and tricks regarding potty training.
Many dogs that are rescued and rehomed have fear issues due to neglect, abuse and lack of human companionship. Here are some tips for assisting your dog:
10 COMMANDMENTS FOR GUARDIANS OF FEARFUL DOGS
1. Be patient—it can take a long time for dogs to overcome their fears.
2. Commit to helping your dog by putting in the time and effort to treat his fears.
3. Don’t force your dog into situations that you know induce fear.
4. Be open to the variety of techniques that may help your dog conquer his fears.
5. Handle any relevant medical issues.
6. Be gentle, positive and kind.
7. Never use punishment.
8. Protect your dog from scary situations.
9. Accept that many fearful dogs never become gregarious, gowith- the-flow types.
10. Love your dog for who he is,

We are always available for advice, a chat or reassurance! By adopting an animal with us you are embarking into an ongoing relationship and we are always there for you as you are to the animal.
- A telephonic interview is conducted between the adoptee and a Woodrock Animal Rescue representative. This interview will best be able to establish if a particular dog will be appropriate for a home and that the home is suitable for a dog in our rescue.
- If all criteria are met during the telephonic interview, the potential adoptee will be invited to view the animal or animals in question as well and others available for adoption. During this meeting, the adoptee may make a decision as to whether they would like to embark on a trial period or not. Woodrock retains the right to refuse an adoption trial period based on their personal discretion.
- If both the adoptee and Woodrock are happy and comfortable with the initial meeting, a home check date is arranged and the furry friend’s adoption papers are put in order. If the house check is up to standard, the furry friend will then be handed over for a trial period. This means that should it not work out after a few days, the animal may be returned, no questions asked!
- After a week if all is in order, the financial amount is then processed for the adoption. This amount covers a non negotiable sterilization, inoculations, deworming and deflea procedures.
